Get ready to vibe to the rhythms that shaped our Caribbean soul! The Music That Made Us! One Caribbean sound...One Unforgettable Hour! Join Next 99’s Trotty Trot and DJ StarBoy Johnny as they dive into 'Bouyon Music.'
So, here is the question: What is Bouyon? WCK, the Winward Caribbean Kulture Band, pioneered the new music in the 80s' and 90's. They took the local Jing Ping and Cadencelypso and fused them with Soca, Calypso, and other dance beats to create a unique 'musical soup' they named "Bouyon.".
This is episode 2, and today's show features the 'Caribbean Music Soup' created in Dominica. All the local music was combined to give you a pelau of music vibes. They named it Bouyon Music. This episode features Trilogy in the studio discussing current and future trends in music. They spoke about the outstanding WCK band that created the music and brought it to life.
We also gain knowledge about contemporary Bouyon artists who persistently innovate and push the limits of the genre, guaranteeing its continued relevance in the current musical landscape. It has provided a platform for Dominicans to express their identity, tell their stories, and celebrate their heritage. The genre has gained international recognition, with Bouyon-inspired sounds finding their way into global hits and influencing artists beyond the Caribbean.
