Carnival revelers may have a reason to celebrate regarding the hosting of Carnival 2021 in Trinidad and Tobago but this should come with a caveat! The truth be told is that we don't have a clue how this virus will affect the World/Caribbean basin in the months ahead. Can this be considered a sigh of relief or should we be concerned that this could be an incubator for mas infections? Just think about it for a moment, carnival and social distancing just does not work people! What an interesting scenario; only time will tell... let's pray that it turns out to be a good story to tell.

Celebrate for now but rest assured this is a fluid situation and watch for severe restrictions that could limit or ban international travel to Trinidad and Tobago during this period. There is a large contingent of visitors to Trinidad and Tobago out of the United States during this period. Things are not looking good regarding the containment of the virus in the US. This could limit the financial success of most of the carnival masquerade bands and the volume of people attending most major fetes. Rest assured, we are not here to rain on anyone's parade but the slogan should be safety first, fete later!
