Calypso Fiesta was a success in many respects. However, there was one performance that caught everyone by surprise; that performance was simply brilliant. Just take a look at the dramatic photo that captioned this post. Terri Lyons was the belle of the ball and before a packed audience at Skinner Park, the daughter of Austin 'Super Blue' Lyons, roared and amazed everyone at Skinner Park. The performance of Terri Lyons is the one that will be talked about for a very long time regardless of the outcome of the finals on Dimanche Gras night.
The talent on display was amazing and the people got their monies worth! Devon Seale, the reigning monarch, will have to bring his "A Game' to retain his title on Dimanche Gras night. We look forward to witnessing a wonderful show.

'Robbery with violence'... 'how dey go do that, they cyar do dat'! How in heavens name did Lady Gypsy end up as a reserve and not in the finals list?
We have to address this subject and we will call it the 'sour note' for the event. If you noticed below the reserve artiste is Lynette Steele aka Lady Gypsy. Lady Gypsy's song, 'Plight of My People' is one of the most popular songs in Trinidad and Tobago. It has always been said that if you sing against the PNM government 'yuh cyar make it to the finals' unless you are larger than life like Cro Cro or Chalkdust! Lynette Steele has an outside chance to perform but 'reserve singer' will not take away the sour taste she has in her mouth today. We wish her all the best and everyone fortunate enough to make it to the finals.

Here is the list of the fifteen (15) contestants who qualified to take the stage against Mr. Devon Seale to try and wrest the title from the reigning Calypso Monarch. We have updated the list because Fya Empress was disqualified from the competition and Lady Gypsey added to the cast.
Addendum - Fya Empress Disqualified:
Fya Empress was disqualified because she is not a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago. One has to be a citizen to participate. So here is the million dollar question, why was she allowed to enter in the first place?
